Five Minute Menu (“we,” “us”) runs fiveminutemenu.com, a weekly dinner planner that builds your shopping list for you. This page explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

What we collect

Account details. When you sign up, we collect your username and email address. Your password is stored in encrypted form, and we can’t see it.

Your planner. We save what you put into Five Minute Menu so it follows you to any device you sign in from. That includes your weekly plan, pantry items, shopping list check-offs, recipes you add, photos you upload to your recipes, favorites, private recipe notes, and star ratings.

Grocery spending. If you send your list to a Kroger-family store, we save the cart subtotal and item count for that week, plus the weekly budget you set if you choose to. This lets you track your grocery spending over time. Only you can see it. You can clear your history in the planner at any time, or email us and we’ll clear it for you.

Shared menus. If you tap “Share menu,” we create a private link to that week’s menu and shopping list. Anyone who has the link can view that menu without signing in, so only share it with people you trust. If you’d like a shared link turned off, email us.

Membership and payment details. When you start a membership, Stripe and Link handle your payment. We receive your name, email, billing country and the status of your membership, such as whether you’re on a free trial, active or cancelled. We never see or store your full card number.

Waitlist. If you join our waitlist, we collect your first name and email address so we can tell you when memberships open.

How the site is used. We count things like which recipes are picked most and how often features such as printing and sharing are used. We look at these as totals across all members to decide what to improve, and we don’t use them to profile you.

Information your browser sends. Like most websites, our server receives your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit. Our host keeps this in standard server logs for security and troubleshooting.

Cookies and browser storage. We use the cookies WordPress needs to keep you signed in, plus one short-lived cookie that returns you to your menu after you sign in. The planner also keeps a copy of your plan in your browser’s local storage so it loads quickly. We don’t use advertising cookies. We use Google Analytics to understand how people use the site. It collects information such as pages visited and general location and does not identify you by name.

How we use it

  • To run your account and save your planner
  • To run your membership, free trial and billing
  • To send account emails, like your welcome email and password resets
  • To email waitlist members about our launch (you can unsubscribe any time)
  • To show the average star rating on each recipe
  • To keep the site secure and fix problems
  • To let you know about important changes to the site or these policies

We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t share it with advertisers.

What other members can see

Your plan, pantry, recipes, photos, notes, favorites and grocery spending are private to your account. The only thing other members see is your star rating, and only as part of a recipe’s overall average. Your name is never shown next to a rating.

If you share a menu link, anyone with that link can see that week’s menu and shopping list.

Photos you upload are stored in our site’s media library. They aren’t listed or shared anywhere on the site, but like most files on the web, they sit at an address that someone could open if they had the exact link.

Services we use

We share the minimum information needed with a few companies that help run the site:

GoDaddy hosts the website and stores its data.

Stripe and Link process membership payments. Link acts as the seller of record, which means it collects any sales tax, sends your receipts and helps with billing questions. They receive your name, email, billing address and payment details.

Brevo sends our account emails, manages our waitlist and sends emails about Five Minute Menu to people who have signed up for them, so it receives your name and email address.

Google Fonts supplies the lettering on the site. When a page loads, your browser asks Google for the font files, which shares your IP address with Google.

Kroger (optional). If you choose to connect a Kroger-family store account (such as King Soopers or City Market), we send your shopping list items to Kroger to fill your cart. We only connect when you ask us to, and you can disconnect at any time. Kroger’s own privacy policy covers what happens in your Kroger account.

Impact runs Walmart’s affiliate program. Its script on our site uses cookies to track when you click through to Walmart, so we can earn a small commission on purchases at no extra cost to you.

Each of these companies has its own privacy policy.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and planner data for as long as your account is open. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your planner data, grocery spending history and uploaded photos. We also remove your star ratings from the recipe averages.

If you leave the waitlist or ask us to remove you, we delete your waitlist entry. Stripe and Link keep payment records for as long as the law requires, even after you close your account. Server logs and email records are kept for a limited time by our providers, and then deleted.

Your choices

You can update or delete your recipes, notes, photos, favorites, ratings and grocery spending history in the planner at any time. You can cancel your membership from the “Manage my membership” link in your planner. To see the information we hold about you, correct it or delete your account, email us at hello@fiveminutemenu.com. We’ll respond within 30 days.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local privacy laws, such as the right to access, correct or delete your data. Email us and we’ll help.

Children

Five Minute Menu is meant for adults planning family meals. You must be 18 or older to create an account or start a membership. We don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has signed up, contact us and we’ll delete the account.

Security

We use encrypted connections (HTTPS) across the site, and passwords are never stored in plain text. No website can promise perfect security, so please use a password you don’t use anywhere else.

Changes to this policy

If we make important changes, we’ll update the date at the top and let members know by email or on the site.
